One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI)

Arts for One Health

Using creativity to showcase the interconnectedness of human, animal, plant, and environmental health.

Project Summary

At the One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI), a core mandate is to engage the public on interconnected human, animal, and environmental health issues through innovative and creative approaches, promoting the One Health movement across sectors. Arts for One Health uses creative expression to raise global awareness and education on One Health via photo competitions, exhibitions, and artistic showcases that highlight the links between humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

A flagship activity is the One Health Photo Competition, a global advocacy initiative inviting amateur and professional photographers and illustrators to submit images illustrating interactions among humans, animals, plants, or environmental health. Themes include public health, animal welfare, environmental health, food security, agriculture, WASH, wildlife, conservation, climate change, and relevant technology.

Organized in two entry cycles, the competition has received entries from multiple countries worldwide, demonstrating the international appeal of arts as a tool for advocacy, education, and the promotion of One Health awareness.
