We are happy to share our 2023 Annual Report, showcasing our impact in this crucial space of One Health. In alignment with our mission, the 2023 fiscal year has been nothing short of informing the public, advocating in spaces, and implementing solutions to correlated issues of human, animal, environmental, and ecosystem health through an integrated One Health approach. We tackled challenges on multiple fronts within the four interrelated areas of our programmatic interest. These areas include Public Health (Zoonoses, Food Safety, and Antimicrobial Resistance), Environment and Conservation, Animal Welfare, and Sustainable Food Systems.
In our initiatives to promote the health of the public, we contributed to the fight against zoonotic diseases such as anthrax, rabies, and other Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) while also addressing the growing threat of Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through awareness creation and facilitating youth involvement. Additionally, we advocated for food safety, especially regarding meat hygiene.
Our conservation effort saw us advocate for the preservation of endangered species, such as pangolins and sea turtles, ensuring ecosystem balance. Likewise, we are keen on improving the welfare of farmed animals, and through our high-impact intervention, we promoted ethical practices in poultry and aquaculture. In advocating for sustainable food systems, through our Alternative Proteins Africa project, we have initiated an exciting movement to enhance the future of sustainable food and proteins on the Continent.
Our reach was impressive: over 27 million people were informed through media campaigns, projects, research, and community-based interventions, with 9,000 individuals directly impacted. But for us, the impact is more than just numbers. It’s about changing perceptions, sparking action, and creating a healthier future. This is why we constantly refine our programs, policies, and strategies, ensuring evidence-based and cost-effective impact.
We invite you to explore our full report and join us on this journey. Whether through partnership, advocacy, or simply spreading awareness, your support can fuel our programs and reach even more communities. Together, we can build a future where human, animal, and environmental health thrive harmoniously.
