A major gap in the effective implementation of animal welfare practices in Africa is the inadequacy of policy and legal frameworks at national and subnational levels, and its implementation. Therefore, Animal Welfare Policy project works to educate, engage and advocate for holistic and inclusive animal welfare policy frameworks while supporting public institutions, industry practitioners and communities to implement such policies. This is building up on our previous relevant community-level advocacy and education on animal welfare and the implementation of the AU-IBAR-mandated Compelling Case project, which provided evidence for Animal Welfare impact on public health and socioeconomic development and facilitated the engagement of policy stakeholders in Africa in relevant advocacy on research results.
