The International One Health Day was initiated in 2016 by the One Health Commission, the One Health Platform, and the One Health Initiative Team to be officially celebrated around the world every year on November 3. The day has been established as a global campaign that celebrates and brings attention to the need for a One Health approach to address shared health threats at the human-animal-environment interface.
One Health Day provides an opportunity for experts and the community to join together in One Health education and awareness. Communication, coordination, and collaboration among partners working in animal, human, and environmental health as well as other relevant areas are an essential part of the One Health approach, and working together allows us to have the biggest impact on improving the health of people, animals, and our shared environment. Many people may not realize the impact they can have on improving human, animal, and environmental health, but everyone has a role to play, including physicians; veterinarians; pet owners; policymakers; disease detectives; laboratorians; farmers; law enforcement; and many more.
For the upcoming One Health Day 2022, One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) presents the opportunity for everyone in related One Health professions to join us in promoting the values, ideals, and awareness of the One Health approach, and showcase our respective professional contributions to enhancing a healthy ecosystem for humans, animals, and the environment.
To this end, we invite you to share photos and videos where you speak/tell us bout your work and how you are contributing to One Health. This would be collated and utilized in a series of media promotion activities to commemorate One Health Day 2022.
How to submit
- Take a picture or video of yourself describing your work and how it contributes to One Health
- Upload the video or picture on a drive and share the link on the submission form. Your entry should be uploaded on either Google Drive, One Drive, or Dropbox. Please ensure the link is set to public view.
