The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is an equal opportunity employer that works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. ILRI therefore seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Researcher to conduct monitoring and evaluation research under the CGIAR One Health Initiative. The One Health Initiative therefore aims to conduct research that supports partners to operationalize one health principles in food systems. The initiative is built on three research pillars which includes Zoonoses, Food safety, and Antimicrobial Resistance with cross-cutting themes of Economics, Behavior and Governance, and Water.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following activities and additional responsibilities where needed, are expected to be carried out effectively by the Post-doctoral Researcher
- Collaborate on quantitative and qualitative data analysis and literature reviews, these involves drafting reports, academic publications, and briefs, delivering presentations on topics related to One Health, zoonoses, food safety, AMR, nutrition, gender, and evaluation of complex programs.
- Conduct research and analysis related to the monitoring and evaluation of the One Health Initiative.
- Contribute to research outputs for publication outlets both within the CGIAR, and for peer-reviewed journals within the wider scientific community, on topics of relevance to the One Health Initiative.
- Assist in reporting on Initiative activities.
- Support or manage external evaluations and ensure that they run according to plan and are delivered on time.
- Also, support the One Health initiative Leads in following governance principles set by CGIAR.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must posses a minimum of the following requirements to be considered eligible;
- PhD in One Health, Food Systems, M&E, Public Health, Food Safety or related areas.
- At least 5 years experience in managing projects with multiple partners and substantial budget, preferably in an international research environment.
- Familiarity with food, nutrition, agricultural, public health and/or rural development issues in low- and middle-income countries.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, as well as an excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, therefore showing demonstrated experience working in a multi-cultural team environment, etc.
