Are you open to learning, interaction and career mentorship in One Health? Are you social media savvy and willing to utilize your platform for advocacy on correlated issues of One Heath? Then, you are welcome to apply for the One Health Advocacy and Mentorship (OHAM) Program!
The OHAM Program is one of the flagship projects of One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) – a nonprofit organization that works to promote news, education, advocacy and solutions to interrelated issues of human, animal and ecosystem health through an integrated One Health approach. The 6-month OHAM program will provide virtual learning, career mentorship and advocacy opportunities for selected Fellows. They will learn technical ideals, principles, and values of One Health (with respect to the Nigerian context), integration of One Health into their respective careers, and will be mentored by high-level advanced professionals and sector leaders in the field to support their career development.
The goal of the program is to raise a cohort of Students and Young Professionals (SYPs) who will be career champions and advocates for One Health in their respective chosen careers. The program will provide the following benefits;
- Provide a platform for cohesive learning and interaction on One Health ideals, career integration, and opportunities
- Engage Fellows in social media advocacy on various themes of One Health
- Establish and engage Fellows on a mentorship program with mid-career to advanced professionals working in and outside Nigeria in relevant fields of One Health.
Eligibility
- Applicants may be undergraduate students in their 4th, 5th or 6th year of study (depending on their degree), may be master-level students, and/or young professionals currently studying or working in the related One Health sectors such as Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Environmental Health, Wildlife Conservation and other relevant Biological Sciences.
- Must be aged 18 to 35 years of age.
- Must have worked for not more than 3 years post-graduation.
- Must be social media savvy with considerable social media engagement on either of Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and/or Instagram.
