
One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) is a non-profit organization that works to address correlated issues of human, animal, and environmental health using the integrated “One Health” approach. Our mission is rooted in the evidence that public health and sustainable development issues are intertwined across the human, animal, and environmental ecosystems thereby requiring a holistic approach to effective and sustainable solutions.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to be a Program Officer (Sustainable Food Systems) in the organization. The Program Officer will play a key role in implementing programs that address sustainable and efficient food production, distribution, consumption, and waste management while integrating environmental, economic, and social dimensions of One Health and sustainable development. The Program Officer will also support the design and implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening food systems. This includes promoting climate-smart agriculture, food security, and food policy advocacy.
Job description
- Support the ideation, planning, execution, and evaluation of projects and research activities related to sustainable food systems and impacts on One Health and Sustainable Development.
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainable food systems trends, policies, and innovations, including the development and implementation of data collection processes.
- Facilitate relevant intervention activities and support policy advocacy efforts
- Contribute to the development of technical reports, policy briefs, and best practice guidelines.
- Build partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders, including community members, policymakers, research institutions, and civil society organizations.
- Support fundraising and resource mobilization efforts, including proposal writing and donor engagement.
- Discharge all other related and relevant duties as would be assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies
- A Bachelor’s in Agriculture, Food Systems, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- At least 3 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, food security, or related areas.
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture, food policy, and environmental sustainability.
- Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building.
- Strong research, analytical, and policy advocacy skills.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural setting.
- Proficiency in data analysis and digital tools is an advantage.
