Testing the Sustainable Impact Toolkit in Ghana: Learning Through Practice
As part of the ICARS Sustainable Impact and AMR Project, Ghana was selected as one of the pilot countries to test and refine the draft
Developing a Resource Guide and Toolkit for Sustainable AMR Solutions
The Sustainable Impact and AMR Project is a multi-country research initiative commissioned by the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) and funded by the Wellcome Trust to strengthen the long-term sustainability of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) interventions, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Led by One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) in collaboration with Ducit Blue Foundation, KNUST, and Ajisefini Consulting, the project develops a practical, evidence-based Resource Guide and Toolkit for integrating sustainability into AMR programs. Grounded in the One Health approach, the initiative engages researchers and practitioners to improve AMR project design, implementation, evaluation, and continuity, supporting resilient systems for sustained AMR prevention and control.
The Sustainable Impact Resource Guide and Toolkit is being developed through six key phases
By establishing core concepts and definitions through systematic reviews and consultations.
By designing and building conceptual models and sustainability elements and indicators in AMR interventions
Producing a draft of the Resource Guide and Toolkit based on evidence and stakeholder insights.
Engaging stakeholders through focus groups discussions, surveys, with consultative workshops to refine the draft.
Testing the toolkit among AMR project teams in LMICs to assess usability and practical application
Integrating feedback to produce, publish and disseminate the final, evidence-based version for use in AMR projects globally.
Active implementation across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya.
