Coronavirus disease (also known as COVID-19) is a novel infectious disease that was discovered in Wuhan, China in December 2019. By March 2020, the disease was described by the World Health Organization (WHO, 2020) as a “fast-evolving situation” and a pandemic. According to the WHO, there are over 5.4 million confirmed cases and 349,000 deaths worldwide (25th May 2020). The disease has been confirmed to be highly infectious and has impacted the world in an unprecedented way; overburdening health systems in both developing and developed countries and halting local, regional and international socioeconomic activities.
The fast-paced evolution of COVID19 has sparked global interest and curiosity of all people directly or indirectly affected, most of whom are actively seeking and consuming relevant information on the disease’s dynamics. This includes information on the origin of the disease, the transmission process, protective mechanisms, identification and treatment of infected cases and what the disease portends for the future.
Therefore, One Health Development Initiative (OHDI) is conducting a collaborative research study to understand COVID-19 information and sources among the general public specifically in Nigeria towards designing better health communication strategies. The survey is designed to get your opinion and your honest feedback is very important to us. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and it is for people aged 18 years and above in Nigeria.
