KCL enjoys a wide regional presence particularly within East, West, and Southern Africa. We are an Africa-based sustainability consulting firm that provides sustainable and practical solutions to companies seeking global impact. Our team of experts therefore brings together combined experience in Enterprise development, Sustainability, Fundraising, Capacity building, Research, among others within the wider Agricultural, Energy, Waste management, Water resource management, and Commercial forestry sectors. In addition, we are part of the KCIC Group, the world’s leading incubation center supporting innovative climate change solutions and sustainable development in Africa.
Green Innovation Challenge (GIC) therefore seeks to identify and support green innovations among the youth as adaptation and mitigation interventions on climate change in Kenya. We primarily seek green innovative ideas that will reduce the carbon footprint in Kenya. Our approach to addressing problems is locally-rooted, user-friendly, and company-specific.
In order to have a multiplier effect, the selection process will be administered through a reality TV show on KTN. Business and technical support will be provided by KCIC Consulting, while NETFUND will facilitate the application processes.
The innovations will thematically focus on the following:
- Agribusiness
- Water resource management
- Waste management
- Commercial forestry
- Renewable energy and energy efficiency and
- Sustainable tourism.
NOTE: Participants will be shortlisted from a long list of applicants between the ages of 15 and 35 with innovative solutions on any of the thematic areas. A jury of judges will be identified from funding partners, and winners will be awarded at an evening gala during the Green Investment Forum.
