In early June 2020, we put out a call for the OHDI One Health Photo Competition which aimed to promote image work of arts that have a One Health message or showcase an interaction between either human, animal, plant, or environmental health. By the competition deadline of June 30, 2020, we received a record number of 93 photo entries from over 15 countries across the world!
After much deliberations and many difficult decisions, we finally selected 14 photo entries to proceed with the semi-final stage. For this round, each of the 14 photo semi-finalists has been presented for public voting over the next one week on our Instagram platform (@onehealthdev). Subsequently, our esteemed judges will then make a decision on the 3 photos with the most likes/votes to select the overall winner of the One Health Photo Competition to be announced on Monday 27th July 2020. We are all enjoined to engage with this competition by following @onehealthdev on Instagram and supporting your favorite pictures and photographers.

Believe is a 31-year old advocate for vulnerable rural women and children empowerment in Nigeria 🇳🇬. She has over 8years experience promoting and advocating for equal opportunity for marginalized women and children. She is the Founder of Young Women in Farming (YOWIF) an Agricultural-based, women-focused social enterprise that helps rural women farmers attain knowledge, grow profits, and improve livelihood.

Akinjise Daniel
Akinjise Daniel is a 26-year old Nigerian who was awarded the “Thumb Award” in 2018 by Enough is Enough, Nigeria for his commitment to ensuring youth participation in governance in Nigeria. He’s the founder of TAD Initiative, a nonprofit founded in 2017, serving as an advocacy platform using storytelling, media, and social media for Climate actions, environmental sustainability solutions, and youth empowerment in Nigeria and Africa at large.
In 2019, he participated in a consultation on youth and peacebuilding by Peace Direct and United Networks of Young (UNOY) Peace-builders and was also selected as a delegate to attend the World Youth Forum in Egypt. In 2020, he was selected as a Nigerian representative of the West Africa Youth Internet Governance Forum, Sierra Leone. His experience working with youth-led nonprofits has helped him acquire skills in graphic design, project management, photography, and talent management.

She is also out to encourage an organic vegan diet and farming and discourage animal farming in society because of the dangers to our health and to the environment. No one has any disease from living on a plant based diet but too many diseases from feeding on animals and the animal industry.

Evelyn Ugbe is a 31-year old communication and project management expert with experience in gender, climate change, public policy and grassroots campaign. Her interest in women’s rights inspired her to facilitate advocacy with Members of State Parliament which led to the adoption of the Violence against Persons Prohibition Law in Benue State.

Sourav Karmakar
Sourav Karmakar is a 39-year-old from India who completed his post-graduation diploma in Mass Communication from University of Calcutta. From the very beginning of his study in journalism courses, he has been practicing various styles of photography, especially outdoor photography seriously. Since 2006, he has been participating in various national & international photographic exhibitions.
“Smoking Out Dengue Caption: Dengue has been a problem in India for centuries. In the 30’s there was no aspect of life in the country that was not affected by dengue or malaria. During the latter parts of nineteen & early twentieth centuries, nearly one-fourth of Indian’s population suffered from dengue & other forms of mosquito diseases. ‘Fogging Method’ has commonly used to control mosquitoes at India. The best time to kill adult mosquitoes by fogging is at dusk, when they are most active & looking for food (mosquitoes feed on human or animal blood). The aerosol fog primarily targets flying mosquitoes, which is why the timing of the spray is critical. A thermal fogger (as opposed to a cold fogger) produces a thick pesticide fog/smoke by heating the fogging solution. It produces a nice insect fog that is directed to areas where it would like to kill mosquitoes & other biting pests.
