Vacancy for Disease Status Officer at the OIE

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) is the intergovernmental organization responsible for improving animal health worldwide with a total of 182 Member Countries. The OIE maintains permanent relations with nearly 75 other international and regional organizations and has Regional and sub-regional Offices on every continent. OIE is seeking a Disease Status Officer who will contribute to a transparent and secured animal health situation in Member Countries

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the monitoring of the compliance of Member Countries having obtained official disease status or endorsement of control program with requirements for the maintenance of their status
  • Contribute to the implementation and follow-up of the procedure for official recognition of disease status
  • Provide support to the work of the relevant ad hoc Groups
  • Provide support to Member Countries self-declarations
  • Contribute to training activities concerning the preparation of dossiers
  • Provide technical advice and support on the work of the Status Department

Qualifications and Experience

  • A postgraduate degree in veterinary medicine (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine – DVM)
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in veterinary epidemiology, including exposure to disease control programs design, implementation, or monitoring
  • Certification in epidemiology and/or experience of infectious animal diseases
  • Work experience with national Veterinary Services
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in English language
  • Proficiency in a third OIE official language (Spanish or French) would be an asset

Remuneration – 2600 Euros Net/month + benefits
