Application is currently opened for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to teach Veterinary Public Health to Veterinary Medicine undergraduate students, as well as engaging with postgraduate students, at the Royal Veterinary College. The successful candidate will contribute to lead the design and implementation of the RVC’s veterinary public health rotation delivered to the BVetMed course, which includes teaching on food safety principles and official controls in food premises, as well as outbreak investigation associated with occurrence of zoonosis and other public health hazards. The candidate will also contribute to practical and formal teaching and assessment of other veterinary public health areas (e.g. animal and public health surveillance) within all five years of the BVetMed course, as well as contributing to postgraduate training in these areas.
The position will be primarily be a teaching role though the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their research experience and portfolio. This academic full time equivalent position will be based within the Veterinary Epidemiology, Economics and Public Health (VEEPH) Group. The lecturer/senior lecturer will work closely with the VEEPH and Farm Animal Health and Production Groups to deliver core public health and food safety teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The VEEPH group is currently an FAO reference centre in veterinary epidemiology, and OIE collaborating centre for risk analysis and modelling. The individual will benefit from exposure to the wealth of veterinary public health, epidemiological, animal health economics and farm animal expertise held at the RVC, as well as from the wider network through University of London and an extensive list of partner institutions.
