Over the past few months, One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) has been engaging coastal communities on their ocean conservation and environmental management issues through the Project Conservation Education. The major achievements of the project include conduction of a situational analysis research on the conservation, environmental and health issues of the communities; development of a Conservation Education Training Manual and piloting a community training on Ocean Conservation and Environmental Management in Ibeno Local Government Area (LGA), Akwa-Ibom State.
As the project progresses, we are motivated by our One Health mandate to encourage and promote stakeholder collaboration and action to effectively address issues of Ocean and Marine Conservation in Nigeria. Therefore, we are facilitating this process by organizing a Webinar that would engage nationwide stakeholders on Ocean/Marine Conservation, review past and current actions, identify gaps and challenges, and discuss way forward. We are also launching and disseminating our newly developed Conservation Education Training Manual which has been presented here for stakeholder review and feedback.
We cordially invite relevant professionals to the Webinar themed “Promoting Stakeholder Action on Ocean Conservation in Nigeria – The One Health Approach”. We particularly encourage professionals who work or are interested in sectors of Conservation, Environmental Management, Biodiversity, Ecology and One Health to attend this Webinar.
