Supporting Responsible and Sustainable Food Production and Market Systems
AgrowSAFE is inviting selected fish, poultry and crop farmers in Nigeria to apply for participation in the AgrowSAFE Pilot Program, a structured verification, improvement, and market-linkage initiative designed to support responsible and food-safe agricultural production.
The AgrowSAFE Pilot is a learning and improvement-focused program designed to help farmers strengthen their practices, demonstrate compliance readiness, and improve visibility to potential buyers who value responsible and sustainability-aligned farm and food production practices, and traceable farm products.
About AgrowSAFE
AgrowSAFE stands for “Sustainable, Accessible, Food-Safe, and Ethical”. It is a farmer-centred initiative that supports continuous improvement in farm practices while building trust between farmers, buyers, and consumers. The pilot will test AgrowSAFE’s verification and monitoring tools in preparation for future scaling of the AgrowSAFE ecosystem.
Who Can Apply
We are inviting applications from fish, poultry and crop farmers. Applicants should:
- Be actively operating a farm in Nigeria
- Be willing to undergo a baseline farm assessment
- Be open to training, monitoring, and improvement support
- Be able to share basic farm data during the pilot period
- Have consistently raised poultry or fish for the past 12 months
- Have consistently grown crops for the past 12 months with a production size of either;
- 50 – 90 bags/ha (50kg bags) of grains (maize, wheat, etc.)
- 100 – 120 bags/ha (50kg bags) of tomatoes/ vegetables
- Has a farm size of either;
- 200 broilers
- 500 layers
- 500 fishes
- Committed to learning and adopting safe and ethical practices
Participation is selective. Only a limited number of farms will be admitted into the pilot.
What Selected Farmers Will Receive
Participating farmers will benefit from:
- Registration into the AgrowSAFE Pilot Program
- Tailored on-farm training and advisory support
- Increased visibility to interested buyers seeking responsible and traceable farm products
- A baseline farm assessment using AgrowSAFE tools
- A farm-specific assessment report highlighting strengths and improvement areas
- Weekly monitoring support over a three-month pilot period
- Be a part of a reputable farmers’ network
What the Pilot Involves
- Completion of an AgrowSAFE registration form
- Participation in a self-evaluation exercise and baseline assessment farm visit.
- Engagement in improvement-focused training
- Submission of simple weekly farm updates
- Participation in monitoring and learning activities
Please note that the AgrowSAFE Pilot is not a government certification and does not replace regulatory approvals from NAFDAC, SON, or other authorities.
