One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI)

Community led Conservation and Climate Education, Action, Livelihoods and Resilience

To promote Community-led conservation, climate resilience and One Health results through education, Action and livelihood pilots.

Project Summary

Community-led Conservation and Climate Education, Action, Livelihood and Resilience (CLEAR) is a project to be implemented by One Health and Development Initiative across selected communities in Nigeria. The major goal of the project is to strengthen livelihood resilience in communities to biodiversity loss, climate change and environmental health risks that affect livelihood by incorporating conservation education with nature based solutions, climate smart practices, digital literacy and policy engagement using One Health approach.

This project will be implemented as a pilot in 3 States (rural and peri-urban settings), it will strengthen community members, youths, students and local conservation champions to act as agents of change.

This project will translate knowledge into actionable change through capacity building, establishment of conservation clubs, practical demonstrations and community livelihood pilots that will generate evidence for informed policy engagement and scale up.

The project will also leverage OHD’s platform RORE to promote learning, awareness and  documentation in order to ensure its sustainability beyond the pilot year.

By the end of 2026, it is estimated that the project will have reached about 500-1000 people, established functional community conservation structures and be a strong basis for scale up expansion between 2027-2030.

This project aligns with OHDI Strategic plan of 2026-2030 by promoting climate resilience, community empowerment, environmental health and integration of One health. It will promote OHDI’s commitment to interconnect climate action, conservation and human health through community led action, education and improved livelihoods.
