One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI)

ZOONOSES, VECTOR-BORNE DISEASES, AND GLOBAL HEALTH SECURITY

Zoonotic diseases now comprises of 75% of all emerging diseases. Due to anthropogenic and climatic factors, vector-borne diseases have continued to evolve as greater threats to human and animal health. We are committed to address the scourge and spread of these diseases through community awareness and education programs, strengthening human, animal and ecosystem health systems, implementing operational research, and ensuring effective One Health partnerships. We support the implementation of the International Health Regulations and strengthening of the multisectoral coordination mechanisms and frameworks, for effective surveillance, preparedness and response to these  infectious diseases.
