The International Veterinary Vaccinology Network (IVVN) is a global community of veterinary vaccine specialists with the intent of promoting international collaborations and projects in line with the development of vaccines against animal diseases that impact societies in low- and middle-income countries. In collaboration with the International Development Research Centre of the Canadian government, they announce a new mentoring fellowship program for female researchers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The fellowship will provide support for female postdoctoral scientists working at research organizations in LMICs to address the gender imbalance in science fields, support their career progression in veterinary vaccinology and accelerate the development of vaccines for livestock and zoonotic diseases.
Benefits
£50,000 is available per successful applicant to work on projects that address key bottlenecks to developing vaccines against animal diseases. The program will provide an opportunity for the researchers to establish a Mentee/Mentor relationship, which supports the Mentee’s professional development and enables the Mentee to work on a defined piece of research to advance veterinary vaccine development.
Eligibility
- Must be a female post-doctoral researcher working in relevant fields
- Must be a members of the IVVN (free membership is available here)
- Must be from a low to middle-income country (LMIC) and be working at an LMIC-based research organization.
